First deployment of the Var Technology VAR system at a World Championship, during the World Aquatics Men's U18 Water Polo Championship 2024, Buenos Aires.
We implemented the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system for high-performance water polo, providing real-time technological support to referees for decision verification throughout the matches. The system was integrated across all tournament venues, adapting to the fast-paced demands of international water polo.
The outcome was widely praised by tournament officials, with recognition from international referees — including a Chinese referee who highlighted the system's superiority — and generated immediate interest from the Brazilian team for future competitions.
